About
Brian S. Myer, MD is an acute care surgeon at Regions Hospital where he is the medical director of Emergency General Surgery. He is an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota where he also leads as an associate program director of the General Surgery residency. His research focus is currently on necrotizing soft tissue infections, and in particular how these complex wounds are managed in the recovery phase with funding of the initial study coming from the Translational Center for Resuscitative Trauma Care. Additionally, he is the primary clinical investigator for a novel ostomy appliance called The LimpetTM seeking to improve the postoperative healing in new ostomies and better management of enterocutaneous fistulae, funded by NIH. He is also the site primary investigator for a novel surgical glue funded by DoD. As Emergency General Surgery director, he also has worked on improving system care for patients.
