&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Overview/research interests: &lt;/strong&gt;Dr. Demel鈥檚 special interests include head and neck cancer and benign/malignant hematology. He is also very interested in the emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of cancer survivorship. Dr. Demel has been recognized by the National Cancer Institute for his commitment to clinical research.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Current research activities and funding:&lt;/strong&gt; Dr. Demel is an investigator in several National Cancer Institute-sponsored trials through the Metro-Minnesota Community Oncology Research Consortium and pharmaceutical companies.&lt;/p&gt;</vivo:overview>
