Overview/research interests: Sotirios A. Parashos, MD, PhD, is medical research lead at the Struthers Parkinson鈥檚 Center (Methodist Hospital), a Parkinson鈥檚 Foundation Center of Excellence.聽Dr. Parashos鈥� research in Parkinson鈥檚 disease focuses on non-dopa-responsive symptoms such as falls and cognitive dysfunction, the natural progression of Parkinson鈥檚 disease and the role of the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary care in the management of Parkinson鈥檚 disease. He has co-authored many articles published in peer-reviewed journals, a book on Navigating Life with Parkinson鈥檚 Disease (part of the American Academy of Neurology鈥檚 Neurology Now series) and has given numerous lectures on Parkinson鈥檚 disease to professional and lay audiences. Dr. Parashos serves on the Community Advisory Board of the Struthers Parkinson鈥檚 Center, on the Work Group for Parkinson鈥檚 Disease Physician Performance Measure Development of the Quality Standards Subcommittee of the American Academy of Neurology and on the Quality Improvement Initiative of the Parkinson鈥檚 Foundation.
